Michael Rice Annual Invitational Shield 2016

Michael Rice Annual Invitational Shield in memory of Mike Rice raising money for the British Heart Foundation (BHF) is going to take place at Gressenhall Football Club on Sunday 31st July 2016.

This is my fourth year of running this event and like last year it will hopefully be a fantastic day of football and fun for all the family. The event starts early with players arriving around 9.30am and a draw being made to see what team will play in the league stage of the competition. The first kick off will start around 10am (TBC).

The teams invited to the competition this year are,

Defending holders 'The Dream Team'
Ricey's Allstars
Gressenhall FC

and this year hopefully 'Norwich City Allstars' (work in progress)

Teams are asked to come with a squad of 15 players minimum, no maximum number set however the more players the less game time for others in your squad.

We have asked all teams to pay £5 per player with this money going in with donations to the British Heart Foundation collection.

Qualified referees are supplied for all games, they are doing this in their own time donating their costs to the BHF collection, players and avid supporter please bear this in mind. Games are played to a competitive level, with some fun of the day and in Mike's memory. We all know he loved a hard tackle but also a laugh and giggle.

The referees will have the power to brand yellow and red cards, both will incur a fine (yellow card £5 and red card £10 monies going in to BHF collection). Red cards will result in your player being removed from that game and be unavailable for your next game.

The final will be between the top two teams after the group stage, this final will kick off around 4pm.

A presentation will follow the final, followed by some live music and hopefully a few drinks together.

There will be a small pitch for the children to play on throughout the day and bouncy castles.

There will be access to the club house for drinks (soft/alcoholic) plus a barbecue by Kevin Townsend.

There will also be a raffle (prizes donated by club members and teams).

Plus donation buckets to get rid of that unwanted change.

Please come down and support this event, last year we raised a great amount of the BHF in honour of Mike Rice, this year I would love to beat that amount.

"Bring the family,
bring a chair,
watch some footy,
have a beer.

Enjoy the day,
Together it will be funny,
In loving memory of Kipper,
Show me the money."

Many thanks

P.S. anyone able to get involved before or on the day please PM me as I have things I could definitely do with and have help with.
Raffle prizes or any forms of sponsorship on the day would be greatly appreciated.
