Route 66

Earlier this year I set myself the target of learning to ride a bike - something I never learnt as child. In order to give it more purpose I came up with the idea of emulating my late brother's cycle ride from Bradford (Yorkshire) to Bournemouth. He embarked on this in his teens, much to my mother's consternation as he was born with a heart defect. He survived the journey but died many years later after a practice run (he ran marathons). It would have been his 66th birthday on 1st November and so I am calling the ride Route 66! My plan is to cover the 215 miles or so he cycled many years ago. As I realistically thought I could never cover that distance this side of retirement I thought I'd ask for assistance. The plan is for a number of people to cycle along the Long Marston to Stratford Greenway and back, a distance of 12 miles. I have 11 willing (or in Alexander's case, not so willing) participants!

I am asking people to cycle the 12 miles mentioned above and to donate £3 for the privilege. I hope to raise £66 for David's Gift of Hope Fund with the British Heart Foundation. I hope you can help!
