Jens Christian Andersen

How would you describe them?

“My wonderful Dad was a larger than life character who always had time for everyone. Dad loved to talk and always had time for a chat.”

What did they love most?

“Dad was Danish tennis champion in his younger days. He lived and breathed tennis and has all sorts of trophies and medals in his trophy cabinet.”

What will you remember most about them?

“Dad had the biggest, most generous, loving heart of anyone I have ever met. His heart was sadly what took his life. He will always be my hero!”

Mrs Sally Anderson-Wai

A gentle giant, Jens Christian Andersen was a character who was larger than life. He used to sit on his bench on Wivenhoe Quay and always had time for a chat. He was a gentleman of the highest order! My fondest memory of him is when he went to get his tennis racquet to play with my son, but took so long my son had got bored and given up. That was my son's only chance to play with this former champion tennis player. May God bless Jens and may he rest in peace.
