Long QT Awareness

How would you describe them?

“Richie was always outgoing growing up. He had many good friends that he carried from childhood and was much loved by his family.”

What did they love most?

“He loved socialising and golf; however badly he played. He was particularly close to his family and adored his four nieces, never meeting his nephews.”

What will you remember most about them?

“His kind nature, his smile, his big brown eyes and his close friends, who became a part of our family. There are so things that we miss.”

Unfortunately at 19, Richard was taken away from us. Years after his unexplained death, it has since transpired that Richard inherited the Long QT gene. Other members of Richards family have since been diagnosed with the same condition. We hope to raise awareness so that preventative steps can be taken. Long QT syndrome is a form of irregular heart beat. Although this is rare, 1 in 7000 people will be diagnosed with this gene - if given the opportunity to be tested. We hope to increase awareness by raising funds for genetic testing for Long QT.

Thank you for visiting my Gift of Hope fund.

The British Heart Foundation is leading the fight against heart disease and they rely upon their supporters to help them continue their vital and ground-breaking research. This special fund has been set up to raise money in support of their essential work. If you are a UK taxpayer you can add 25% to your donation at no extra cost to you by simply ticking the Gift Aid box when you donate.

Thank you again.

(What are event pages?)Anyone can create an event page to fundraise in the memory of Richard. You can find more information in our FAQs

As you probably all know by now, I am holding a fundraising night in memory of Richard on 19th September 2014. Although we have sold many tickets for the event we understand there is only a limited amount of tickets. For those of you who are unable to attend and would like to donate to Long QT Awareness we have set this page up to make this possible. However small donations are, they will be greatly received. We have set our fundraising target as £500, with your help we hope to meet it. Please share this page - thanks in advance.
