Maria (Mary Ann) Ward
Mum was born in 1946 and we now know was born with congenital heart disease. It wasn't until the birth of her children that her heart defect was discovered. Over the years mum has fought hard. Underwent numerous open heart operation, valvectomy, mitral valve replacement, heart bypass and 3 pacemakers. Mum never let this stop her doing anything. She never complained. She was indeed the bravest, strongest woman I have the privilege to call "Mum".
After a lifetime battling heart disease sadly my mum passed away on 24th August 2016 aged 69. I count myself as I'm sure do my brothers and sister and my dad, very fortunate to have mum with us as long as we did.
In memory of Mum, we'd like to raise awareness and funds. So that like us because of the hard work undertaken and research by the British Heart Foundation that someone else can have their loved one live a long life with heart disease.
The pain of loosing a loved one especially a cherished Mum is hard enough. But knowing someone might benefit because of Mums legacy would make her so proud if she was with us today.
So please give as much as you can afford every penny can make a difference to someone somewhere.
