Welcome to Alan's 'Gift of Hope' Heart Fund, which has been set up in his name to raise money for the British Heart Foundation to help them in their fight against heart disease, and to save others the pain and waiting that Alan endured.I hope you can join us in fund raising for the nation's heart charity as nobody is doing more than the BHF to keep the nation's hearts beating. Please remember that a donation made on line direct to the fund or through myself will recieve a Gift Aid Tax Bonus of an extra 28%Please make a donation if you can - a single pound could add that extra vital heartbeat that would save a life. This page will be constantly updated as new ideas are always coming along, and I am always happy to hear from others and exchange ideas, as sometimes a thought that can be put into action to raise money is helpful. I can be contacted by just left clicking this link HarveyLevene@aol.comWe have received items from stars of stage and television that have raised money on ebay and sincere thanks go out for their kindness and valued support. Recently friends of Alan's from the world of entertainment staged a show in the village hall at the picturesque hamlet of Bolton by Bowland in the West Riding of Yorkshire. The show was entitled 'Players, Poets and Primmadonnas'. It was a nicely linked cocktail of items including songs, parodies, sketches and anecdotes relating to the stage and the world of theatre. It was introduced and supported by John McArdle who recently starred in 'Surviving Disaster' for the BBC and is shortly due to begin filming a thriller series for Granada. The brilliant cast of eight including well known Kathy Jamieson, who were drawn together by dear friend and Director John Cummings, worked so hard and slick that the production would have delighted any major theatre audience. They all helped with tea coffee and wine by donation during the interval. There were also many friends who volunteered their services to handle the technical side of sound and lighting. Many raffle prizes were also donated, and thanks to go out to everyone who helped raise £700 on that remarkable evening. A local fell runner from the area even donated his charity takings. It is amazing how many people are prepared to support the worthy cause set up through the British Heart Foundation in a loved one's name. A similar event is already in the planning stage, along with many other ideas. Many ideas can evolve in order to raise money for a BHF 'Gift of Hope' Fund. Another quite simple one for Alan's is to take a stall on the local market. Every item will be just £1 and the theme will be 'Make your pound, make a heart pound'. Cash has also been raised through our local shops and businesses, all having collection boxes on display.Alan had an obsession for two pound coins, so the idea occurred to me that whenever I received one in my change I would store it in a glass until I had ten and would then pay them into the fund. It has given me personal hope and a purpose, to help others who through lack of knowledge and resource regarding heart and coronary disease, have gone through pain and suffering, and the anguish of waiting for surgery. There is a positive hope that through the wonderful work of the BHF, one blessed day, coronary heart disease will be eradicated. I am sure I don't need to tell anyone that met him how caring Alan was so full of love for everyone. A gentle, smiling person, who could light up a room with his presence. A true Gentle man. We, Alan and myself, thank you for taking the time to to read our site. Alan is still very much a part of my life through it. May God bless you, watch over you, and keep you safe.
